You need:
- 1-2 slabs of ribs (I get mine at Trader Joes - they are the best)
- 1 can of Coke or Dr. Pepper
- Sweet Baby Rays BBQ Sauce
- Salt and Pepper to Taste
Next, add in your can of pop. I usually use Coke, however, on Friday we only had Dr. Pepper. So I tried Dr. Pepper and the results were fabulous.
Next add salt and pepper to your ribs. I just sprinkle it on top... not too much!
Next, cover your crock pot and set it on low for 8 hours.
After 8 hours, or whenever you get home from work, drain our the pop.
Keep the Ribs in the crock pot and smother them with Sweet Baby Rays BBQ Sauce. I just try to make sure that all of the ribs are covered in Sauce. Be careful however, because the ribs are so tender they tend to fall off the bone.
Once your ribs are coated in BBQ sauce, cover back up your crock pot and cook your ribs on high for 1 hour.
After an hour, take them out carefully to serve! The ribs tend to fall off the bone so be gentle taking them out.
Enjoy! Don't forget to have some napkins handy!
If you try this recipe, leave me a comment and let me know how it goes. Good luck! :)
I am trying this tonight!!! It looks so easy, thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic, we love it and thank you for this simple recipe...I use Dr. Pepper each time...thanks love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI made these a few weeks back and I'm hooked! Thank you for sharing. Sent hubby to the store tonight to gather supplies for tomorrow night's dinner. Yummo!
ReplyDeleteI am going to make these for tomorrow's dinner....Yum....
ReplyDeleteIs the liner necessary or optional?
ReplyDeleteI would guess it's probably optional but would make clean up so much easier.
Delete1. If you don't use the liner, make sure you spray with non cooking spray. The liner makes it so much easier with clean up. I never use my crock pot without it.
Delete2. I have been making my ribs this way for so many years now. I found it in a Betty Crocker Crock Pot Recipe Book. You literally have to spoon them out because they do fall off the bone. OH SO GOOD.
I have 2 diabetics at home could I use diet coke?
DeleteI personally don't want to have my ribs "fall off the bone". However, this still looks great. I will just decrease the cooking time. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe liners are not necessary. The fall of the bone is pretty amazing, but I'm sure decreasing the cooking time would help with making them not as tender. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteFinally attempted this recipe, and these are FABULOUS!! PS, Sweet Baby Ray's has a Cola-Q sauce now that just adds even more flavor. Thanks for this recipe idea!
ReplyDeleteDone this today with diet coke--my husband is a diabetic--turned out great. Next time though I will back off to the 5hr cook time. Also used the diet coke BBQ sauce from weight watchers. Very good.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it worked with diet coke!
DeleteI'm trying them with Diet Dr. Pepper tomorrow. Can't wait, they look yummy!
DeleteSilly question, but are these pork or beef ribs? :)
ReplyDeleteI usually buy pork. Enjoy!
Deletecontinuing the silly question but can this be done with baby back ribs as well and still fall of the bone? :)
ReplyDeleteI only use baby back ribs and some do fall off the bone.
DeleteI'm trying these today. Will comment on how they turn out. I used baby back ribs.
ReplyDeleteDo you put the ribs in frozen or thawed?
ReplyDeleteThey'd have to be thawed or you couldn't roll them to fit the crockpot :)
DeleteSame question as Nicole....Are these ribs frozen or thawed?
ReplyDeleteI've never made ribs before and my daughter wants them for her 11 birthday tomorrow. I'm going to try this recipe since it seems foolproof and has great reviews. Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteI tried the ribs but I use Pepsi and they turned out great thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteSince the pucture shows the ribs being flexible, I would assume this recipe is for ribs that are raw, thawed if frozen.
ReplyDeleteMy family's standards with food is borderline ridiculous so this recipe still impressed me. Thank you for posting a recipe with great follow-through. Not all of them on Pinterest do that.
DeleteWhat size crock pot would be OK for 2 full slabs?
ReplyDeleteI only have diet coke and diet dr. pepper...do you think that will be ok?
ReplyDeleteJust put a slab in the crockpot! Thanks for sharing this recipe!
ReplyDeleteWill beef finger ribs center cut work okay?
ReplyDeleteThese were amazing!! Delicious!!
ReplyDeleteCan they cook on high for four hrs?
ReplyDeleteThis is the best ribs I've ever had!!! and they were so easy to make. Thanks alot for the recipe!!
ReplyDeleteOh and I actually had it on low for only 7 hours and high for 1 hour.
DeleteEasiest and best ribs I ever made. Used Dr. Pepper and it was so yummy, but I want to try cherry Coke next time ;o) I will be having ribs more often now.
ReplyDeleteMaking these tonight! Thanks for the recipe.
ReplyDeletehello, I was guessing that these were Beef ribs and not Pork ribs correct?
ReplyDeleteI am making these as we speak and I didn't pay attention that they were pork ribs. I picked up baby back ribs, beef. So we will see how they turn out.

ReplyDeleteHello there from Down Under - would using DRY GINGER be ok - as this is all I have ??? Thanks for the recipe :)
ReplyDeleteI have a recipe for pot roast that uses dry Ginger Ale - would probably be fine. I think it's the sweetness of the soda pop that adds to the "fall off the bone" sweetness - plus you will be using the BBQ sauce at the end. Should be fine
ReplyDeleteThis does not disappoint. Maybe the best ribs we have ever made. It quickly became a favorite
ReplyDeletethese ribs are the bomb and sooooo easy to make, my kind of cooking. My 7 year old granddaughter love these!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMaking these tonight! Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteWill be trying these, just need to find somewhere that sells the sauce. Might have to go into Perth to the American store. Wish more places in Australia stock these types of things.
ReplyDeletep
trying these right now with diet dr. pepper hope it turns out good I am kind of a snob when it comes to ribs!! Will let ya know in about 6 hours
ReplyDeleteSooo, I tried this recipe as the crockpot has been my new best friend (broken foot unable to stand long)...And let me just say I was very skeptical. I used Diet Dr. Pepper and my own dry rub...Cooked on low for 4 hours high for 2 and the last hour drained and added the sauce. Let me just say these came out fantastic!! will make this again thanks so much for this recipe!!
ReplyDeleteTrying this now! :) eexcited
ReplyDeleteI'm making these tomorrow, hope they turn out good, they look so yummy,

ReplyDeleteWould like to sign up for your blog....these sound delicious.....thanks
ReplyDeleteDo the ribs have to be cooked covered in the soda or is it ok to have one side sticking out? I'm feeling like I have to flip the ribs.
ReplyDeleteI used Dr Pepper and brown sugar, let them cook, then finished them on the grill with the BBQ sauce. To let the sugars caramelize and add more flavor. It's the only way I'll do them now.
ReplyDeletewhat about putting them under the broiler for a few minutes?
ReplyDeleteI have made these several times, soooo good and cannot get much easier. I used diet doctor pepper and have also used root beer and turned out great. The left overs make great BBQ sandwiches!!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried making these using Zyng for the carbonated soda?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if anyone had tried Mr. Pibb Extra. It's a spicy cherry soda. Have cooked these many times and they always turn out fabulous. Baby Rays is THE best sauce.
ReplyDeleteThese are great. After putting the sauce on we have put them on the grill or in the oven. The sauce sticks to the ribs - yum!
